Deep Grasses
02:26
|
|||
Deep in the grasses where the followers follow her
Gather their whispers and go onward on a word
Left at the oak and they will run away their own way
Fight who they follow and the followers fall away
Coins laced with wishes in the fairy well fare thee well
Tossed all unthinking as they say a spell stay a spell
Blur-eyed and blinking in the morning sun mourning sons
Wandering wildly into known oceans with no notions
Caught fresh off guard by a changeling child changing childe
Crawling from bramble brush where he whiled very wild
Stood in the center of the flowering flower ring
Hands held outstretched for the offering of her ring

Optimistic Nihilism
02:51
|
|||
Will you hold us to the status and the standards of a bygone day?
When we were born in time to watch the world around us cracked and crumbling (heat warning)
Will you sit and drink alone in a cold corner and avoid the fray?
Even though your bones are just composed of chemicals that will decay (dust it fades)
Ah ah … ...
And every work of art or masterpiece mankind has made will be unmade
So kiss and laugh and lose yourself in flower beds, and the smell of rain (make mistakes)
Will you spend your days in offices just waiting for the clock to change?
When we were born in time to save some tigers or learn how to fly a plane (cut the chain)
Ah ah … …
I … Won’t let your eyes distort me
I … Don’t live for wrath or glory
I ... Don’t need to search for meaning
I … Won’t look to gods or demons
Ah ah … …
Will you laud yourself above the ones around you for the checks you pay
Even though the earth is just a ball of dirt around a ball of flame (orbiting)
What that means is that you’re free from everything they’ve made you do or say
So take my hand and clear your throat it’s time to go no need to be afraid (wandering)
Ah ah … …

Paralyzed
03:34
|
|||
I’m paralyzed by the passage of time
How can I know that this body is mine?
It feels like, it feels like, you know it feels, just like
Feeding quarters into an abyss
To get somewhere you’ve gotta take the risk
Wearing purple ribbons ‘round your wrists
And decorating hallways with your fists
It feels like, it feels like, it feels like, just like
The fear that you’ve forgotten how to kiss
And going for a high-five and you miss
Mixing up your suffering with bliss
Or writing all your poetry in piss
It’s not right, it’s not right, but it feels, just like
I’m paralyzed by the passage of time
How can I know that this body is mine?
It feels like, it feels like, you know it feels, just like
Finding sprigs of jasmine in the snow
Taking out the trash at night alone
Learning there’s a forest made of stone
And doubting all the truths you’ve ever known
It’s alright, it’s alright, you can feel, just like
Landing hard enough to shake your bones
And letting slip a sad pathetic moan
Making cardboard boxes into thrones
And turning a mistake into a home
It feels like, it feels like, it feels like, just like

Zombie Cowboy's Revenge!
02:51
|
|||
I rise sit up in a coffin
This dirt nap was never meant to be
I’ve been pushing up the daisies
It’s high time the flowers pushed for me
I died wrong end of a six gun
Red roses blooming from my chest
Last breath wasted on a false love
My soul unable to rest
I brush grave dirt from my clothes and
Push through the doors of the saloon
I’ve searched all over the county
Drawn by the scent of your perfume
I reach cracked and crooked fingers
And grab hold of your riding skirt
It’s time to make our bridal bed now
Six feet beneath the fertile earth

Fall Leaves
03:17
|
|||
All that you gave us we took
Sword thrusts and arrows we took
Calling for more until we lost our breath
Fall back well past the tree line
We’re safe behind the tree line
Let boughs and branches shield us from duress
‘Till all, ‘till all, the fall leaves fall
‘Till all, ‘till all, the fall leaves fall
And as we fought and died and bled
The noblemen convened in tents
Deciding what our fates would be outside our confidence
So in the morning when they came
We claimed the land in our own names
And stripped them of their titles with our quivers blades and fists
All that you left us we grew
Gardens and orchards we grew
Where cherry blossoms speak of coming fruit
Water and tend the tree lines
Guard and defend the tree lines
Let boughs and branches grow heavy and droop
‘Till all, ‘till all, the fall leaves fall
‘Till all, ‘till all, the fall leaves fall
And as we sow and reap and thresh
The richest all just beat their chests
Awash in stolen property and unearned confidence
And so we must safeguard our claim
With words and force and our good names
To keep the land alive and out of hands that crave cement
