When I die,

when they put me in the ground

and all of my good hair days

I should go somewhere
but when I get to drinking
I always end up over there at the pet store
buying bags of 5 cent goldfish
and I bring them home
they swim around in my bathtub ‘till the spring
the winter seems so long this way
I let each cold day ravage me
and when it’s warm
I let them go on golf courses
and all the little ponds
in rich people’s yards
but they soon will die,
yeah I know they’ll die
At least they get to shimmer through
something that feels real
take in all the open water

Bermuda and Bernoulli.
Born so different
destined for a rivalry
were two brothers Bermuda and Bernoulli
Bermuda tended three sides of the sea and land
Bernoulli concerned himself with other plans
He looked to the sky
He looked to the sky and demanded it
The cold sea, and deep stones
bound Bermuda to the world below
but using lift and light
Bernoulli took flight
And flew past waves and grass
Bermuda looked up at the sun
eclipsed by nothing and no one
his view would soon be torn apart
his brother’s shadow broke his heart
Bermuda watches planes go by
his brother claiming open sky
and he is filled with jealousy,
and pulls them down into the deep
Born so different
destined for a rivalry
were two brothers Bermuda and Bernoulli
Bermuda tended three sides of the sea and land
Bernoulli concerned himself with other plans
He looked to the sky
he looked to the sky and demanded it
The deep sand, and high waves
bound Bermuda to the earthly plane
refusing his brother’s side
Bernoulli took flight
And flew past waves and grass
Bernoulli’s principle in play
means planes are flying to this day
But all good pilots should beware
in case Bermuda stakes his claim
